On our last day in Bergen, we had breakfast at our hotel and headed straight to the train station. The trip between Bergen and Oslo is about 7 hours with a few stops along the way. I thought I’d stay awake for most of the trip, but I ended up napping more than expected. There were some picture-worthy moments, like being at the highest point during the ride in the mountains at Finse stasjon, but we didn’t feel the need to take more pictures of the fjords since we had seen so much already. The view from the train wasn’t nearly as breathtaking as from a boat or at the water’s edge.
Once we got to Oslo, we quickly walked to our hotel, changed, showered, and headed out to explore the city and get dinner. Oslo, Norway’s capital, has the highest population. Compared to Bergen, Oslo has everything you could want within a short walking distance. The city has a different atmosphere and reminds me a lot of Madison, except Oslo has cotton candy carts on every block and ice cream stands every 20 feet.
We decided to have dinner at a trendy sushi restaurant, where I literally ate gold, and finished off the night with some delicious cupcakes.
